The glass tops are easier to clean than a gas cooktop. "Real" cooks
don't like the electric as much as gas as they feel that the gas is
more finely tunable, gives visual verification (flame height), and
responds more quickly to the controls. Not being much of a cook, and
never having had problems with the glass cooktop, I'm not sure how
much merit is behind the pro's opinions and how much is tradition.

The real cooks should chime in at any time now and tell me exactly why
I am so wrong. ;)

Get a black one. Most complaints I hear are about the white being hard
to keep clean.

Don't break it or you're in for big bucks to replace it.

as mentioned, the tops are very expensive if broken.

if your microwave is above the stove, be very careful when taking stuff out
of the microwave (hasn't happened to me yet).

Have one and love it - but you need pans with FLAT bottoms. I'd sure
consider an induction unit next time.

My son's got one in his house and I don't like the scuffed up look of
it. Top is black but still shows marks.
Also don't like the potential for breaking the glass.
